How we are paid
Where our money comes from
Comparing is free to you. You only pay when you choose to instruct, and the quoted total is then split in two. The first part is an upfront payment to us at the point of instruction: our referral fee for transferring you to the firm. The second is the balance, which the law firm bills you and which falls due when your transaction completes: on completion of a sale or purchase, or when your new mortgage completes if you are remortgaging. It is a split, not an addition, so our fee comes off your total rather than sitting on top of it, and you are not paying the whole quote on day one. If your move falls through, the upfront payment is refundable within 14 days of instruction, and after that it is transferable, with no time limit, to a future conveyancing matter with us.
We say this plainly because the alternative is a reader discovering it at the point of payment. The quote you compare is the quote you pay.
The platform behind the panel is Pinlocal, which is also where firms apply to join. If you run a conveyancing practice, see join our panel.
